Research and Development
The research and development activity based both on the research in original chemical compounds and the development of generic products is one of the activity priorities of the Gedeon Richter company, the second largest pharmaceutical concern in the Central and East Europe. | The high level of R&D works focused in particular on the area of research into medicines influencing the central nervous system is guaranteed by a group of almost 800 scientists. Their contribution to the development of pharmacy has been also appreciated by the Global Intellectual Property Organization that awarded a gold medal to Gedeon Richter.
Polfa Grodzisk that has been acting within the Gedeon Richter Group since 2002 is pursuing its R&D activity at modern laboratories and sections. The Pilot Department plays a key role there integrating, among other things, the work of the R&D Department with that of the Production Department. The Pilot Department conducts technological and R&D tests on new products for registration and clinical research purposes. All the processes are being carried on in pursuance of the GMP requirements. The modern laboratories where the detailed chemical and microbiological analyses are made (e.g. the chromatographic and spectrophotometric ones) of pharmaceuticals being produced allow for a thorough verification and thus replicability of all the manufacturing processes. It means that the final products are up to all the quality and quantity requirements.
The Pilot Department constitutes an independent unit the production scale of which makes 10% of the target production of the Ready-Made Medicines Manufacture Department (the WLG). The works performed at the Pilot Department make it possible to optimize all the manufacturing stages and perform their validation before the target production at the WLG.
The incessant investing in development makes an indispensable, key element that is part and parcel of activity of present day enterprises aiming at complete fulfillment of the market strict requirements.
